About this Poll
The following data are the results from a poll/survey offered to any and all employees who left the Prairie Grove School District during the 2023-2024 school year. It was offered simply to gather information in hopes to get a better understanding of what may have caused such a mass number of employees to either resign, retire, or to not be rehired by the district.
In no way was this survey offered as an opportunity to negatively target any individual or group of individuals who either previously or currently work for the district.
In fact, it is important to note that this survey was offered in such a way that the person submitting the survey could do so with complete anonymity. Which is to say that 7 of the submitted surveys (5 submitted as teachers and 2 non-teachers) are entirely anonymous.
The reader, then, may wish to exclude these specific surveys completely from the data; questioning their authenticity. Therefore, the administrator has also included a 2nd table below, showing the data from the 7 completely anonymous survey submissions.
It is also important to note that even though each form submission had to give their consent before being able to submit their survey, claiming: “I am agreeing that my statement is true to the best of my knowledge, and my submitted information can be used anonymously by The PG Portal in a moral and ethical way in providing information to the Prairie Grove Community,” the following data is for informational purposes only. It is not legally binding in any way, and should not be viewed as such.

Breaking Down the Data

Total:
- 2 employees, or 15.38% of all submissions say someone from the district reached out to them concerning their leaving
- 11 employees, or 84.6% of all submission say no one from the district reached out to them with concern for their leaving
Now, there are two important details the author feels the need to mention at this point.
- of the 2 submissions who’ve stated someone from the district “DID” reach out to them about their leaving, 1 submission was anonymous. Both were retirees. Of the 11 claiming they were “NOT” contacted, 9 had resigned and 2 were not rehired.
- The Law of Averages. In most data sets you can often use the law of averages as a predictor of outcomes. Even though the number of different variables in this data set can make it somewhat of a difficult task, one could take the two data points under “TOTAL,” and multiply them by 5 – which would give you a total of 65 survey submissions (slightly understating the actual number of employees who left the district). Of the 65, the law of averages would show that 10 employees would be contacted by someone within the district about their leaving, while 55 employees would not be contacted by someone within the district.
Is it the opinion of The PG Portal administrator, with the available data given, that using the law of averages with these two data points is a fair assessment? Probably not, due to only about 20% of employees who left submitted a survey.
Is it the opinion of The PG Portal administrator, that using the law of averages with these two data points allows for an approximate logical predictor of outcomes? Absolutely.

As I move forward, I feel it extremely necessary for everyone to acknowledge a couple of facts:
- Not every school staff member, just like not every employee of a large department store, are great or even good employees.
- CV-19 caused everyone in the world emotional damage. For some, fulfilling their roll and duties at work took a back seat. Though I am absolutely not accusing anyone whatsoever, it is possible that some of those who left the district were just tired of it all – which is understandable.
It is the author’s opinion some of these frustrations were expressed in a survey, with the statement: “The environment was very toxic…”
“The environment was very toxic..”
A statement from a different survey also stated:
“I can’t put my finger on any specific reason other than I couldn’t take it anymore”
Therefore, the author/Portal Administrator is suggesting we certainly can all acknowledge and agree that when bringing 250 people together in one place, there most always will be those who help to create a toxic environment, no matter how much you try to please and cater to them.
Let us now look at some of the words and phrases used in the surveys submitted.
